Ask for A Windows License Key
Any-time someone is building/selling or purchasing a new system it is standard to receive a Windows License Key and/or Disc. Custom System builders under EULA (End User License Agreements w/Microsoft) have to purchase an OEM Disc (Physical Copy) or purchase a "Activation Key" (Normally sent via E-mail). The system builder will use this "activation key" to install a legitimate copy of Windows.REMEMBER! Windows 10 can be installed without a license key, allowing individuals to test Windows 10. This is a tactic used by shady sellers to install Windows 10 without activating it, 30 days after purchasing the system Windows will prompt individuals to purchase a legitimate license key.
Activators/KMS
Some sellers are clever enough to use "Activators" which will activate the operating system in question every 90 days. Illegitimately giving the purchaser a pirated copy of Windows but with a "hack activation".Windows 7 to Activate Windows 10
Other sellers will strip Windows 7 License keys from older systems to Activate Windows 10. During Windows 10 initial launch for the first year Microsoft was allowing users to upgrade to Windows 10 using their Windows 7 Key. As of June 2019, Microsoft Announced that this will no longer be allowed or a valid way to install a legitimate copy of Windows.
