This article will explain how to install our remote support software. Our software can be downloaded via any internet browser including but not limited to; Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari. Remember, our software is compatible with both PC and Mac systems. Software requirements are listed on the right.

 

Software Requirements: 

2 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor*

1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)

4 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 4 GB (64-bit)

DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver.

Compatible with Mac and Windows systems.

Once the pages loads it will look like the image on the left. Be sure to use the latest browser version to ensure minimal problems.
Once the page has loaded, the download will automatically start or a dialog box will prompt you to decide if you would like to run or save the installation for this software. Internet explorer will allow users to run the installer without saving it; Chrome/Firefox will save the installer to the "Download" area on the specified machine.

 

 

 

   Once the download has finished, a prompt will be displayed. Click next to start the Daedalus Teks remote support software installation. Be sure the "Show advanced settings" is not check marked.
 The next dialog box will inquire if the software will be used for; personal, company or for both purposes. Select both, and click next.

 

 

 

 The next screen is a standard User License Agreement. Feel free to read the agreement, once done click next to continue the installation.
 The next dialog box will inform you that "Attended Access" is being setup. Click next and the final step of the installation will appear.  

 

 

 

 The final step of the installation will be to name the computer and configure a password for access.

Computer Name: Please name the computer a combination of the; Company name, Type of system (Desktop, Laptop or Tablet) and a Terminal Number to identify the systems if several require support. Example: If the system was a Microsoft Company Desktop, the Computer name would be "MIC-DT-1". This name is determined by abbreviating Microsoft, Desktop and assigning the #1 as the terminal. (Please be sure to mark the system Terminal 1, this will allow users to inform which Terminal the technician needs to provide support to.)

Password: The assigned technician to the; Service Case, Service Level Agreement or Inquiry will inform you what to configure the password to.

Buying a computer; online, Facebook, Craigslist or another site?



Buying a computer online is hard. It can be frustrating knowing if someone is actually providing quality components, legitimate software that isn't pirated or scamming you. This guide will help you safely purchase a; new system with legitimate software and avoid any unnecessary costs or problems. On the right there are 5 quick & easy questions you can ask immediately to determine if someone selling a computer system is attempting to scam you.



Ask for A Windows License Key

Any-time someone is building/selling or purchasing a new system it is standard to receive a Windows License Key and/or Disc. Custom System builders under EULA (End User License Agreements w/Microsoft) have to purchase an OEM Disc (Physical Copy) or purchase a "Activation Key" (Normally sent via E-mail). The system builder will use this "activation key" to install a legitimate copy of Windows. 

REMEMBER! Windows 10 can be installed without a license key, allowing individuals to test Windows 10. This is a tactic used by shady sellers to install Windows 10 without activating it, 30 days after purchasing the system Windows will prompt individuals to purchase a legitimate license key.



Activators/KMS

Some sellers are clever enough to use "Activators" which will activate the operating system in question every 90 days. Illegitimately giving the purchaser a pirated copy of Windows but with a "hack activation".

Windows 7 to Activate Windows 10

Other sellers will strip Windows 7 License keys from older systems to Activate Windows 10. During Windows 10 initial launch for the first year Microsoft was allowing users to upgrade to Windows 10 using their Windows 7 Key. As of June 2019, Microsoft Announced that this will no longer be allowed or a valid way to install a legitimate copy of Windows. Although, clever sellers and PC builders know how to still use this method to install a faux "legitimate" copy of windows.



Below are versions of Windows License Keys that exist along with the sticker that determines if the Windows 10 Activation Key is embedded in the BIOS.




Examples of Windows OEM License Keys

Windows 10 Pro Keys that are usually applied onto systems
that are built by Custom PC Builder. OEM is Original Equipment Manufacture.

Example of a Windows 10 OEM CD

This is a DVD System Builders are required to purchase to legitimately install and activate Windows 10. This usually is an OEM or Retail Version of Windows.


Windows 7 Examples



Windows 7 License Key

This is an example of a Windows 7 Key. Clever scammers user these keys to activate Windows 10 with a Windows 7 key. If you see this on a computer that has Windows 10 return it or ask for a valid Windows 10 key.

Windows 10 Embedded in BIOS

With Pre-Manufactured systems such as; HP, Lenovo, MSI, Asus, Acer and more Windows comes with Windows Pre-Installed and activated. These Manufactures embeds the Windows Product Activation key to the BIOS. This is helpful when individuals need to reformat their systems but do not have their activation key.

Remember! If the seller of a pre-manufactured system has switched out the motherboard in the system itself, the product key will no longer be embedded. As the embedded product key is in the motherboard itself
